Artist Statement

As an artist I like to create images that recall the beauty in the world.

Illumination drives how I select the subjects to paint. It may be a sun-kissed body at the beach as the sun sets, or an abstract landscape enveloped in mist.

I seek the contrast between subjects and their surroundings, whether they are from abstract concepts or figurative images. The interpreting of light takes me to experiment with texture and colour.

I work mostly with oil paint. In order to achieve the illusion of light I use texture to layer the paint.
